Modern Romance

Mordern Romance

Modern Romance emerged in the summer of 1981 and had 8 hit singles and three albums in the UK charts. The band became known for their Latin sound and had fans throughout the world with the single ‘Walking In the Rain’ reaching number 1 in the Far East. The album ‘Adventures in Clubland’ reached 1 album on the Venezuelan charts and their single ‘Can You Move’ achieved a number 1 on the US dance chart. They had many international hit singles including ‘Everybody Salsa’, ‘Ay Ay Ay Ay Moosey’ and ‘Best Years of our Lives.’

The band made regular appearances on all the major UK tv shows of the time including Top of the Pops, The Kenny Everett Show and The Russell Harty Show.

Since reforming in 1999 the band have performed around the UK and went down a storm when they appeared with The Human League and Limahl in a look back at the 80’s night in conjunction with BBC’s UK Horizons TV. They make regular performances at 80’s theme shows and recorded a new album in 2001 which featured eight of their original hits plus new songs including two new Latin tracks.

Andy and guitarist/musical director Peter J Pinto have been writing and recording songs for a new album which they hope will win the band new fans – the guys plan on having a few celeb friends appearing on the album.

The band has maintained its reputation for being very lively and having fun on stage. Impromptu, unrehearsed dance routines are often in the Modern Romance show. It’s the undeniable effect of that Latin beat, it does keep things lively! Whatever the weather it’s always a sunny Latin party when Modern Romance are in town.
